The Postcard A postcard by Photo Precision Ltd. of St. Ives, Huntingdon. The card was posted in Blairgowrie, Perthshire on Monday the 23rd. July 1973 to: Mr. M.F. Driscoll, 2, Aldermary Road, Bromley, Kent, England. The message on the divided back of the card was as follows: "Sunday 22-7-73. Staying here the night on our way from the Highlands to Edinburgh. Passed through Pitlochry this afternoon, but only had a short stay there. Very good coach tour, enjoying every minute. Regards to you and Mother, Jim & Elsie". The Angus Hotel in Wellmeadow Blairgowrie is still going strong to this day. An Aircraft Crash in St. Louis So what else happened on the day that Jim and Elsie posted the card? Well, on the 23rd. July 1973, Ozark Air Lines Flight 809, a Fairchild Hiller FH-227, encountered wind-shear in a thunderstorm and crashed at Normandy, Missouri, while on approach to land at St. Louis International Airport in St. Louis, Missouri, killing 38 of the 44 people on board.
