Leuchars Hawker Hunter (RAF Black Arrows) - Edited

Leuchars Photo: a fantastic Leuchars Photograph Featuring Hawker Hunter (RAF Black Arrows) - Edited

Photograph Taken On Saturday, September 10, 2005

This aircraft was part of the RAF's Black Arrows display team, which was operated by 111 Squadron between 1955 (initially using the Gloucester Meteor before switching to the Hawker Hunter in 1956) and 1960. Following the fatal accident at the Shoreham Airshow 2015 in which another Hawker Hunter failed to complete a maneuver and crashed onto a road, killing 11 people and injuring 15 others, the UK's CAA grounded all Hawker Hunter aircraft until further notice. Quite a few airworthy examples have been sold overseas to continue their airshow careers as a result. I am unsure of the registration of this particular aircraft; my photos are not clear enough to make it out. I will update this text if/when I discover this aircraft's fate. -- This photo was taken at the RAF Leuchars airshow in September 2005 using my last bridge camera, a Fuji FinePix S5500. This camera had a very small sensor, and really didn't cope well with poor weather environments. As such, basically every photo I took with it on that day was *extremely* grainy, so I've had to spend a long time trying to clean these up without losing too much image quality - with varying degrees of success. These aren't as clean as my more recent photos due to the quality of the equipment - but please try to enjoy them nonetheless. Hopefully we'll get out to the airshow at East Fortune Airfield this July and I'll get some better quality shots with my modern DSLR :)View image on Flickr
