Buckingham The Mermaids

Buckingham Photo: a fantastic Buckingham Photograph Featuring The Mermaids

Photograph Taken On Monday, December 9, 2019

This is quite a famous swim on the Upper Great Ouse at Buckingham. It was close to the fishing hut built by Richard Walker and the Taylor brothers (famous anglers all) in the 1950s. In recent years the fishing has declined dramatically due to heavy predation and pollution. The hut has long since gone and the famous anglers gone to meet Isaac. It’s called The Mermaids because one early morning Messrs Walker and Taylor arrived at the swim to find two girls from the farm having a swim. The Mermaids smiled on me today because shortly after taking this picture I caught a fine healthy chub who’d survived the otters, mink, cormorants and chemicals....View image on Flickr
