The tale of a betting scam which has kept horse racing out of west Wales for 75 years is to be told in Richard Lawrence new book.Fans of the turf have lost out since a 1927 gaming scandal made the name "Tenby Races" a dirty word among bookies and eventually forced the towns race course out of business. "The scandal was the biggest betting coup ever in history of the turf. Reputed to have landed a group of Tenby-based punters, jockeys and horse trainers more than £1m - an unbelievable sum at the time." said Mr Lawrence, from Brecon.

A Tenby Lifeboat Family by Avis Nixon are the memoirs of a Tenby Lifeboatmans daughter from the 1930s and 1940s. Mrs Nixon is the sixth daughter of Tenby Lifeboatman Alfred Cottam who was the Mechanic of the Tenby Lifeboat from 1933 to 1948.

The Golden Age of postcards ranged from 1902-1914. In the pre-telephone period, this represented the cheapest and quickest way of getting messages to people. It was quite common for a postcard to be posted in the earliest daily postal collections and arrive early enough to notify the recipient that: I shall arrive at 3 oclock today.
