| Tenby Video: here you find a fantastic Tenby Video Featuring Rock of Ages is the story of a King called Sisyphus who once tempted the Gods by narcing on Zeus' various torrid love affairs, he also murdered a bunch of people and slept with his own niece, earning him a ticket to Tartarus, a place deeper and darker than Hades, but since most people know Hades is Hell, the game takes place there instead.
Our "hero" is a crafty one, originally he was sentenced to be chained up for all eternity, but he tricked Thanatos (the Greek god of death) by asking him how the chains worked, and in the first looney tunes cartoon plot ever made, Thanatos locked himself up instead. Sisyphus talks his way back to the living world, where he yells at his wife for a bit, then refuses to go back to a never ending torment at the hands of the cruel gods, go figure, so they drag him back and invent a new form of hell for him, forcing him to roll a boulder up a hill for all eternity, when he gets to the top, they make him drop it each time.
The Greeks let the story rest here, but Atlus knew old Sisyphus had more tricks up his tunic, so in a stunning combination of gameplay, Sisyphus realizes he can roll his boulder right on out of the gates of hell and onto the heads of all those who stand in his way, including historical figures from 5 different eras, including well known icons like Leonardo Davinci or Leonidas of 300 fame and lesser known icons like Justinian of Tauresium, best known for starting the first sports based riot that killed over 30,000 people, I guess he was a Raiders fan. Absent from the game are modern icons, guess people felt squeamish about running a boulder over Thomas Jefferson or fighting Hitler with cows, maybe they can pack them in as DLC later on.
Rock of Ages combines the action of Marble Madness with the strategy of Tower Defense, you start a level and get to place various defensive structures to stop the enemy boulder, after awhile your boulder is ready to roll and you control it directly as you avoid enemy defenses. The mix of strategy and action is pretty unique and the game has a quirky sense of humor that feels like Monty Python teaching your history class. You can pick it up for about $10 on PC, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. in the uk" |
